Subject of the research grant: Processing of signals and images acquired by remote sensors

Description of the project and activity:

SENSORNAUTA (POR FESR 2014-2020 - Bando 2 – Projects for research and development of the SMIs) involves four small and medium enterprises (SMIs) and two research units. The goal is to develop and test an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) capable of performing a very wide range of specialized operations with an automation degree higher that systems currently on the market. The main features of the system are:

•     integration of various types of sensors (e.g. cameras, radar)
•     automatic navigation with collision-avoidance and data-driven autonomous mission management
•     automatic wireless battery recharge.

The activity to be performed within the research grant will include processing of signals and images acquired by various types of sensors (e.g. RGB with high spatial resolution, multispectral, infrared) mounted on board the UAV. The acquired data will mostly make reference to the industry 4.0 and farming 4.0 (precision farming) frameworks.
Signal and image processing will be performed mostly using Matlab.
The activity should start by October 1st 2018.
